Jon Gunton was a “folk rock singer songwriter” from San Francisco by way of Ohio originally. He hated “folk rock”, and despised being called a “singer songwriter.” Because of this he tried to do country songs and delta blues songs, but like most things he attempted in life, he completely missed the mark. The music he made was a strange, tasty mix of all of the above, with a splash of Steel-Town Swing. Some called his music the creation of the “Sacramento Sound”, while others called it “California Country”. Most people didn’t really care enough to call it anything. Anyways...he liked dogs, drinking and pretty ladies, so that was mostly what he sang about. Nice enough guy, firm handshake, liked a stiff drink and a good time. But all in all was pretty weird, and never really caught on with the cool kids
